“MEI” brings out the beauty of knitting. My thesis work focuses on knitwear production waste, aiming to create fascinating fabrics that introduce different ways of knitting yarn scraps. The technological possibilities of knitting machines are very diverse, and this gives an alluring opportunity to use fringes, patterns, braids, and other eye-catching interweaves to create unique knitted garments inspired by the design of vintage knitwear.
The name “Mei” means beautiful in Mandarin. In my work, I uncover methods to make waste beautiful.
