Akvilė Bernotaitė creates conceptual fashion characterized by a strong narrative and a clear ideological direction. The designer sees fashion as a form of self-expression that creates a meaningful connection between the wearer and the viewer. The collection “Ana mok žemaitiška rokoutys?” is inspired by the cultural heritage of the Samogitia region of Lithuania, as well as the strength, stubbornness, and deep connection to homeland of its people. Traditional patterns and symbolic colors intertwine with contemporary silhouettes, telling a story of heritage in a modern language.
The designer places great emphasis on both cultural and environmental sustainability. The collection uses local materials such as linen, wool, and straw, and prototypes are consciously created from leftover or secondary materials. Collaboration with local artisans and producers helps preserve regional skills and traditions, while offering free garment repair services and thoughtful material use supports a longer lifespan for the pieces.
Akvilė Bernotaitė participates in the OmaMood fashion show in 2026.
