The collection HildaMari is inspired by the modernization of traditional folk costumes from the 1920s–30s. The most common updated ensemble was a combination of sleeves inspired by Northern Estonia and a striped skirt. Drawing from this, the collection has been created to echo the form of that original adaptation, while in essence moving significantly away from it in terms of materials, color palette, and embroidery.
It is recognizably a national-inspired ensemble, consisting of a dress and detachable sleeves. The upper part of the dress is made from brocade fabric, adding a subtle hidden nuance. Each set also includes a detachable pocket.
The name of the collection carries personal meaning—Hilda was Angela’s great-grandmother, a dedicated craftswoman, and Mari was her grand-uncle’s daughter, whose handmade sleeves originally brought this theme to the designer.
