“Romance of Everyday Life”
Christina Kasesalu’s work focuses on experimental and chance-driven pattern creation that challenges conventional criteria. Her original patterns draw forms from unexpected and seemingly mundane elements in our surroundings. This is how the collection “Romance of Everyday Life” was born — inviting us to notice the small things in our everyday lives and to romanticise the familiar.
The silhouettes in the collection are not created through traditional pattern construction, but through a fabric-based creative process in which the designer’s patterns and the qualities of the fabric dictate the form. The garments are made with minimal seams and are easy to take apart, allowing the material to be deconstructed back into its original fabric form in the future.
The focus is on extending the life cycle of the material through zero-cut and zero-waste principles, as well as the use of mono-materials and recycled polyester, preserving the value of the textile even after the garment’s period of wear has ended. The accessories are made from the designer’s own old clothes and boots that are no longer used within her family.
Christina Kasesalu will present her collection at the Mood-Performance-Dance show at the 2026 Estonian Fashion Festival.
