The designer collective Emily Turro, Merrit Helistve, Christopher Mururand, Kaisa Lotta Laak, and Kätlin Muttika are third-year students of the leather design department at Pallas University of Applied Sciences. Their collection “I Am My Own Hero” draws inspiration from the visual language of warriors, knights, gladiators, and fairies. The collection combines garments and accessories that embody both protection and freedom—created for those who stand alone as well as together, being at once delicate and strong as iron.
Material reuse plays a central role in the creation of the collection. The designers primarily use second-hand textiles, fabric leftovers, as well as leather and metal, exploring ways to transform existing materials into new and distinctive forms. The use of leftover materials helps reduce overproduction while giving new life to existing resources, connecting a fantasy-driven visual world with a more conscious approach to material use.
Emily Turro, Merrit Helistve, Christopher Mururand, Kaisa Lotta Laak, and Kätlin Muttika participate in the Mood-Performance-Tants fashion show in 2026.
