ÄRNI BLUM is a luxury knitwear brand from Estonia, based on the island of Saaremaa. The knitwear is crafted with care and love by skilled local women, using both hand knitting needles and flatbed knitting machines intended for hobby knitters. A strong emphasis is placed on sustainability—garments are produced using a zero-waste, fully fashioned approach. Only organic, natural, and certified yarns are used. To prevent overconsumption, most pieces are made to order. While this may result in a slightly longer waiting time, it ensures each garment is more unique. For designer Johanna Paiste, knitwear is a form of self-expression into which she puts her whole soul. The designs are inspired by voluminous, soft forms and rich textures. Key elements of the brand’s design language include quality, luxury, attention to detail, timeless classics, and—most importantly—comfort. It is an invitation to experience the ideal combination of style, comfort, conscious fashion, and a better future. ÄRNI BLUM participated in the festival in 2023.
